A new Wordpress blog, real reform brooklyn, has made some ripples in the past two weeks, posting some highly critical comments about Jo Anne Simon, Steve Levin, and a mildly critical story on Evan Thies. A debate has blazed through the CB1info yahoo groups listserv regarding real reform's Simon post that had a side comment about pro-life and pro-choice positions of the candidates. I'm more interested in who's writing for this. Anonymity, particularly on a political blog, can be troublesome because motives get questioned. The Biviano camp thinks the blogger is an Evan Thies helper elf (if not Evan himself) and while another campaign thinks it's likely a Friend-of-Ken (Diamondstone, that is). I've asked around. Wordpress is difficult to trace but we'll keep trying. Remember, personality is better than anonymity.

Thanks for the link to our blog. We thought that we handled the CB1 exchange appropriately. The woman who initially raised concern thanked us publicly for how we resolved the situation. The moderator, Teresa Toro, is a Simon supporter. Her claim that we engaged in hate speech was desperately absurd.
ReplyDeleteAs for your post, we suggest rather than being obsessed with who we are, you should be focusing on what we say. If you find us inaccurate, report it. If you find otherwise, report it as well.

There are an awful lot of anonymous posts on another thread here about how Evan Thies was SO against the Broadway Triangle, but you never actually hear anything come out of Evan's mouth about it.

How does Thies think he gets a pass on resigning from CB1 before the Broadway Triangle vote? Does he only think it's important to show up for a vote if it's close?
The more Thies spins, the more ridiculous his excuses get.
Yeah, Thies makes a speech now, but when it was time to vote, WHEN IT COUNTS, he was NOWHERE to be found!
ReplyDeleteAll you hatin' on Thies- irrelevant. Levin locked up the senior vote- way more important in the booth then the handful of young folk that read this blog or "real reform bk."

Apparently Evan didn't feel strongly enough about the murky process to VOTE against it.

Ah, But Evan was on CB1 until JUST before the VOTE, and resigned JUST before it was time to put up or SHUT UP!

4:28 makes an excellent point. No candidate at the CB1 hearing or the BP hearing. Thies is an easy fall guy. Not voting was tacky, but he owned up.

Whatever- one of the other candidates clearly has helper elves with one talking point. Everybody fell down on Broadway Triangle- because the candiates were all focused on southern part of this district- like always. Politics as usual.
In the end- senior vote goes Levin. He's such a nice young man, always visits us in the senior centers!
I guess since Evan isn't going to win anyway, I'll follow his lead and not bother voting for him.
